Students are always curious about my Reiki lineage because soon it will be theirs!
What is Reiki Lineage?
In a nutshell, Reiki lineage is simply the list of who taught the person, who taught the person, who taught the person, and who taught you.
It’s kind of like a Reiki family tree.
Training with me, you’ll be pretty surprised to find how close you’ll be in the lineage to Mrs. Hawayo Takata, the woman who brought Reiki from Japan to the United States.
First, it’s essential to understand that Reiki has many different styles.
And, with the right intention, they all work! The Reiki method I use and teach is Usui Shiki Ryoho.
Usui Shiki Ryoho is the original Japanese branch of Reiki. It focuses on Usui’s spiritual teachings and offers training in a non-Western format.
Usui Shiki Ryoho translates as Usui Spiritual Energy Healing Method, and the Usui Reiki Ryoho lineage aims to reflect the practices that Usui Mikao taught during his lifetime.
I received my training and attunements from Reiki Master Richard Fiallo of Healing Today in Plant City, FL.
My Reiki Lineage is as follows:
- Dr. Mikao Usui (1919-1922) Sensei
Gyohan - Dr. Chujiro Hayashi (1930’s)
- Mrs. Hawayo Takata (1939)
- Iris Ishikuro (1973)
- Arthur Robertson (1982)
- Jeanine Sande (1989)
- Renaldo Torres (1994)
- Richard Fiallo (1999)
- Dr. Becki Baumgartner (2012)
- Your Name Here!
Why does the “Sensei Gyohan” appear after Dr. Mikao Usui’s name?
“Sensei” means teacher. It is an esteemed and honorable title in Japanese culture.
And, Goyohan was Dr. Usui’s pen name.
I practice both traditional and contemporary Usui Shiki Ryoho.
Another name for Usui Shiki Ryoho is “The Usui Method of Natural Healing.”
I use the traditional Usui Shiki Ryoho concepts but sometimes incorporate additional modern methods to provide an advanced healing session.
Why Do People Care About Reiki Lineage?
Reiki lineage refers to the lineup of Reiki Masters from whom a practitioner has learned, going back to the founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui. Reiki practitioners often consider their lineage vital because it reflects their connection to Reiki’s original teachings and techniques.
Here are some reasons why people care about Reiki lineage:
- Respect for Tradition: Reiki is a practice passed down through generations of practitioners, and many people believe that respecting the lineage is an essential aspect of the practice. They believe that learning from a reputable teacher who can trace their lineage back to Usui is a way to honor the tradition of Reiki.
- Verification of Authenticity: Some people believe that their lineage can verify the authenticity of a Reiki teacher. If a teacher has been trained by someone with a robust and well-documented lineage, it is thought that this provides some assurance that the teacher’s Reiki training is legitimate.
- Personal Connection: For some practitioners, the lineage represents a personal connection to the founder of Reiki, Mikao Usui. They believe tracing their lineage to Usui is tapping into Reiki’s original energy and teachings.
- Continuity and Consistency: Following a lineage provides a sense of continuity and consistency in the practice of Reiki. Each generation of practitioners builds on the knowledge and techniques of the previous generation, and a strong lineage ensures that the core teachings of Reiki are passed down and preserved.
In summary, people care about Reiki lineage because it connects to Reiki’s tradition and authenticity and provides a personal connection to its founder, Usui. It also ensures continuity and consistency in the practice of Reiki.
