Harry Hoxsey’s journey into alternative cancer treatment began with a family legacy steeped in herbal remedies. Born into a family where folk medicine was revered, Hoxsey inherited a formula purported to have cancer-healing properties.

Over generations, Hoxsey’s formula was passed down and refined within the Hoxsey family, eventually becoming the cornerstone of Hoxsey’s unconventional cancer treatment.

With no formal medical training, Hoxsey ventured into the healing field, driven by a philosophy that cancer treatment should be accessible and affordable to everyone. He opened clinics across the United States in the early to mid-20th century to provide hope and healing outside the confines of mainstream medicine.

His clinics attracted patients from far and wide, drawn by the promise of affordable alternatives to conventional medicine. In 2010, while studying at Clayton College of Natural Health, “When Healing Becomes a Crime (The Harry Hoxsey Story)” was required reading. I remember quickly finding a video online, but it’s seemingly disappeared. Brace yourself; this video will likely ignite fury, especially if you’ve lost a loved one to cancer—and rightfully so, as these injustices persist today.

Banned On YouTube

I’d been searching for the Hoxsey video because it could help many cancer patients. I finally found it in the internet archives. It was available for download, and there were no copyright restrictions, so I posted it to YouTube (unlisted) to share here. Unfortunately, YouTube had a conflicting opinion about the video.

I posted the video below as “Unlisted” on YouTube titled “Here’s The Story!” with nothing in the description to bypass searches and make it easy to view. YouTube pulled it down in under an hour, stating, “Your content was removed due to a violation of our Community Guidelines” for Medical Misinformation. It got flagged at 1:52 minutes.

In the fine print, YouTube asserts, “Content that spreads medical misinformation that contradicts the World Health Organization’s or local health authorities’ medical info about cancer treatment isn’t allowed on YouTube.” Watch the video, and you’ll know why the medical establishment doesn’t want you to see it. And shame on you, YouTube, for impending our healthcare freedom!

Vimeo hasn’t taken it down yet. If they do, I can share it with you via Google Drive. Please feel free to download and share it. Everybody needs to know what happened (1920-1960) and what is still happening today. And if you watch it, please let me know what you think.

The Rise of Harry Hoxsey: A Self-Taught Healer’s Journey

Harry Hoxsey was not your typical medical practitioner. With no formal training, he claimed to have developed an herbal cancer treatment passed down through generations of his family. In the early to mid-20th century, Hoxsey opened several clinics nationwide. The clinics offered unconventional treatments to patients who had exhausted mainstream options or sought alternatives to conventional medicine.

Despite lacking the credentials of traditional doctors, Hoxsey’s clinics gained widespread popularity. Patients flocked to him, drawn by the promise of hope and healing outside established medical practices. But as Hoxsey’s fame grew, so too did the scrutiny from the medical establishment.

Hoxsey’s rise to prominence was accompanied by relentless scrutiny and legal battles. Mainstream medical authorities, backed by organizations like the American Medical Association (AMA) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), accused him of quackery and practicing medicine without a license.

Despite testimonials from patients who claimed to have been cured by his treatments, Hoxsey faced constant harassment and regulatory challenges. His clinics were raided, injunctions were issued, and legal battles ensued, casting a shadow over his unconventional methods.

In 1957, the FDA issued this warning poster and placed it in post offices nationwide. It is still on the FDA’s Flickr account.

The Medical System Wanted to Buy Hoxsey’s Formula

The medical system’s attempts to acquire Harry Hoxsey’s formula are a significant aspect of his story. As Hoxsey gained attention and popularity for his alternative cancer treatment, mainstream medical authorities became increasingly interested in his formula. Recognizing the potential value of Hoxsey’s herbal remedies, representatives from the medical establishment approached him with offers to purchase or license his formula.

However, Hoxsey steadfastly refused to sell or relinquish control of his formula. Despite pressure and enticements from pharmaceutical companies and medical professionals, Hoxsey remained resolute in his commitment to providing treatment to patients in need.

The medical system’s attempts to acquire Hoxsey’s formula underscored the contentious relationship between alternative and conventional medicine during that time. While some viewed Hoxsey’s refusal to sell his formula as a principled stand against the commercialization of healthcare, others criticized him for withholding potentially valuable treatments from mainstream medicine.

Ultimately, Hoxsey’s decision to retain control of his formula cemented his status as a maverick figure in the realm of alternative cancer treatment. His unwavering dedication to making his treatment accessible to all remains a defining aspect of his legacy.

What began as a small clinic in Mexico eventually evolved into the Hoxsey Bio Medical Center. The center offered holistic cancer treatments based on herbal remedies and lifestyle modifications.
