What is Reiki?
Reiki is a healing modality in Japan in the late 1800′s with Dr. Mikao Usui.
The word “Reiki” is of Japanese origin and refers to the Universal Life Force.
The name originates from the Japanese concepts of REI (spirit) and KI (life force, energy).
Reiki is also described as the Japanese word for “universal energy”.
Traditional Eastern healing focuses on the “KI” (also known as ”Qi”, “Chi”, or “Prana”) as a method of bringing the life force energy back into balance.
How Can Reiki Help Us?
Everyday stress, environmental toxins, addictions, etc. negatively impact the flow of our life force energy.
Reiki re-balances our subtle energies, which in turn increases feelings of well-being, reduces stress, and promotes good health.
In essence, Reiki is a way to harness the Universal Life Force that exists in the world around us and all living creatures, and use it to help ourselves, others and the earth itself.
Where Does Reiki Come From?
We are all born with an innate natural ability to heal.
Reiki is a wonderful way of learning to use our natural ability to restore balance to the world.
The ability to heal ourselves and others encoded into our genetic material and instinctive.
The first thing a child does when injured is put his or her hand on the painful area and hold it, jump up and down, and cry.
These are all actions designed to help relieve pain and speed healing on its way.
Pain is our physical body’s way of bringing our intent and focus to an injured area.
Pain is soothed by touch, especially warm, soothing touch such as a mother’s hand when caring for her young ones.
The healing power of touch is well documented throughout history. It often plays a strong part hero tales and theological mythos.
Reiki is ancient. Many agree that Reiki – or energy healing – is the precise way that Christ healed, and he re-empowered us all to heal as he did.
Animals also intuitively recognize the power of Reiki and are drawn to it.
